Welcome from our President Angela Dickinson

The Sound of Music Returns

Welcome to the website of Callander Amateur Operatic Society ..... or CAOS as we're affectionately known.

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that, after two years of disappointment, we are now able to put on the Sound of Music.

The new dates for the show are Wednesday 16th March 2022, Thursday 17th March and Friday 18th March - all starting at 7.30 pm.  In addition there will be a matinee on Saturday 19th March - starting at 2.30 pm

Many of our audience will have purchased tickets for the original dates in March 2020.  As advised at the time, we undertook to issue refunds to anyone who wished it or to hold on to the tickets as we would honour them at the next show we put on.

So, if you still have a ticket for the Sound of Music, just turn up, with the ticket(s) for the day indicated on it/them.  For everyone else, prices are £14; £11 for concessions and £5 for children aged 12 and under. - concession and child prices are not available for the Friday performance.

Tickets can be obtained from Callander Post Office, or from any member of CAOS, or they can be ordered online by going to the 'Our Next Production' page.

NEW MEMBERS

Although it is not to long until we put on The Sound of Music, we are still keen to encourage new and younger members to join the society in preparation for future shows. For those thinking about joining us, but put off by the inclusion of "Operatic" in our name, thinking that we just do old fashioned, fuddy-duddy stuff, DON'T BE. We've never, ever done a proper opera and although we've done some operettas, e.g. Gilbert & Sullivan stuff, most of our shows are West End and Broadway musicals.

If you enjoy singing and like the idea of performing in front of an audience, and would like the opportunity of being involved with a long established and successful team of like-minded enthusiasts, then please come along to our rehearsals. No particular skills are required. You don’t have to be able to read music although some singing ability would definitely be useful. No previous experience of either acting or performing is an entry requirement, those skills can be developed through experience. What we do know is that when you come along you'll be in the company of many others who didn't know what to expect when they decided to "give it a go". You might have thought about it for years, well now is your chance! If you are interested, contact us through using the 'Contact Us' page on this website.
